Congratulations to our HAMS softball team for advancing to the Regional championship game. The championship is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 at home. Come out and support the Cornjerkers!

6th Grade Families! Band and Choir signups are underway! A Parent Meeting will be held in the John Greer Band room Tuesday August 29th at 6:30pm. This is the perfect opportunity for students to try something new or continue their success. Great memories are made in music!

Today, HAMS teachers Mrs. Young, Ms. Kennedy, and Mrs. Lee took part in an engaging professional development opportunity in Momence, learning about building positive relationships and a strong educational environment. Leading the day were two nationally known educational experts, Brian Mendler and Gerry Brooks. These HAMS teachers are excited to bring what they've learned to school this fall.



Mrs. Lee’s HAMS 8th grade honors ELA class studied commencement address structure. Then, students wrote and presented their own addresses, wearing mortarboards they created.
Students voted on their top three choices for the Lee-Sie Award of Literary Excellence.

Our 8th graders completed their Holocaust unit by visiting the Courage to Remember Exhibit in Savoy today.







As part of yesterday's Springfield trip, the 8th graders had the amazing privilege of visiting the floor of the House of Representatives and meeting Senator Chapin Rose and Representative Chris Miller. #CornjerkerPride

Mrs. Lee’s HAMS 8th grade honors ELA class recently held a poetry gallery walk, showcasing their poetic works. Teachers, students’ families, and fellow classmates voted on their choices for the Lee-Sie Award of Literary Excellence.

Science Fair for the middle school is getting close! The science fair projects are due May 8th. The science projects will be judged on May 8th during the students' science classes by other teachers. Contact your student's science teacher with any questions! Thank you!

HAMS Parents,
Earlier this morning, the school was put on a soft lockdown to allow the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department do a walk-through of our building with their drug dogs. HAMS was found to be a drug-free campus. Students have now continued their school day.

HAMS & HAHS students who are interested in wearing pajamas to school next week from April 3-6 can bring in 3 non-perishable food items each day of our Week of Giving Food Drive. All donations will go directly to the Cornjerker Pantry.

As a reminder, HAMS students have a 2:20 PM dismissal this week on both Wednesday, March 22 and Thursday, March 23 due to Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. If you still need to schedule a parent teacher conference for your HAMS student please contact that HAMS Front Office. School will not be in session on Friday, March 24.

Congratulations to the HAMS Spelling Team for advancing to the County Finals! Congratulations to Landon Blakey and Heidi Walder for scoring perfect rounds (15 out of 15 words) at Sectionals! The County Finals will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 6:30 p.m.. at Bismarck-Henning Junior High School gymnasium. The public is welcome to attend; admission is free.

The High School will be holding a Scheduling Fair for all incoming freshmen on February 8th from 6:00-7:00 pm in the HS cafeteria. The purpose of this fair is to allow incoming freshmen to meet with teachers and staff and learn about all the different offerings at Hoopeston Area High School. Each department will have a table set up with information for parents and students about what classes they teach and will be available to answer questions. Extracurricular and club coaches and sponsors will also be in attendance to share information about their programs. This night's purpose is to give parents and students an opportunity to get a better idea of course offerings for when students begin signing up for classes in the spring to get their schedules set for the next school year.
