HAHS Students and Families:
Tonight at 6, as part of College Week, senior students and parents are welcome to attend a presentation on the financial aid process immediately followed by a FAFSA completion workshop. This event will take place in the HS library. We ask that those who choose to attend, please park in the back of the school at the library entrance. Masks and temperature check/COVID screening are required before entering. Remember, completing the FAFSA is a graduation requirement for the class of 2021.
Also please remember, we always encourage students (whether in-person students or remote learning students) who are struggling or in need of additional help to please be in continual contact with your teachers. Teachers are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during remote learning time from 1:00-3:30 pm and they are available on Wednesday from 8:00-3:30. Both in-person and remote learning students have the ability to set up appointments with teachers during these times to come in for one on one instruction, set up a phone call, or to set up a virtual meeting through Google Meets. The high school staff is here for you to help you in any way they can to help all of our students to be successful.
Finally, please remember that for our students who have switched to fully remote learners in order to sign up for meal distribution you need to email remotemeals@hoopeston.k12.il.us with the child's name and the pickup location you will utilize.#CornjerkerPride

Hoopeston Area High School Parents, With the end of the 1st quarter, the staff at HAHS wanted to take the time to check in with our parents to see how they felt the first semester has gone so far for their student(s). We have created two short surveys. One is for parents of our in-person students and the other is for parents of our fully remote students. Your opinion matters and we would be very appreciative of any feedback you could provide as we continually work to improve student learning and academic performance during these difficult times. Direct links to each survey can be found in our high school homepage news feed. #CornjerkerPride

High School Reminders:
Students today is the last day to answer your attendance question for the week. If you haven’t done so yet, please make sure that is done by tonight. Please remember that this must be completed for attendance credit for this week.
On Monday we start 2nd Qrt. Next week Progress Reports will be mailed out on Tuesday to all families with students 1st Qrt grades. However, please remember, student grades don’t reset at the end of the quarter. High school grades are calculated for the whole semester and not by quarter. So that means students who currently have low or failing grades still have time to bring them up before the end of the 1st semester.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week on Wednesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 22nd from 3:00-6:30 each evening. Due to the COVID pandemic, we will be holding virtual conferences this semester and we encourage students and parents to set up virtual meetings or phone conferences with your teachers. This can be done by students or parents emailing the teacher directly to set up a time. While we encourage students and parents to set up virtual conferences, in-person conferences are also available by appointment.

Students: For the next two weeks we will be taking attendance weekly while we are on this period of district-wide remote learning. All students who were normally in-person will need to access your first-hour google classroom at the start of the week and answer the attendance question. This will count for your attendance for the whole week. Students who were remote learners prior to this week will continue to use their normal remote learning google classroom as they have done in the past for attendance. Again, it is very important that students answer this question each week that we are remote learning as it will count as your attendance for the whole week.
As a reminder to all our students, the work over the next two weeks does count and will affect your grades. So please make sure that you are checking your Google Classrooms and your school email daily for work and information. It is also important to know that even though we are remote learning through next week, students still have the opportunity to make appointments with their teachers for help. Students can still set up appointments with their teachers to come into school and work one on one with them. We will be open from 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:30 each day for students to make appointments. Students can also set up virtual meetings with their teachers at any time with Google Meets or they can set up phone conferences as well.

As Mr. Richardson shared this morning the district will be going fully remote starting Tuesday, October 13th. We will be returning to in-person instruction starting Monday, October 26th. As a reminder, second quarter officially begins Monday, October 19th. During our fully remote learning time, students will still be held accountable for all their work and assignments and their grades will count. Please note that students still have the ability to set up appointments with their teachers to set up times to come in for one on one help or to set up virtual meetings or phone calls with teachers. Also please note that during our remote learning time all College Express and Dual Credit students will be remote as well during this time. It is very important that during remote learning that all our students stay in contact with their teachers and are logging in daily to check their school emails and also checking each of their classes Google Classrooms for work and information. Finally, I wanted to let our students and our parents know that our Parent Teacher Conferences will be remote. For any family wishing to set up a remote conference with their students teacher(s) please have your students email those teachers directly to set up a time that works best for you. #CornjerkerPride
