Good Morning Hoopeston Area Families,

Hoopeston Area CUSD #11 had a School Bus involved in a minor accident on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:20 pm. The bus was returning pre-k students home when it stopped at a child’s residence. The driver had applied the 4-way flashing yellow caution lights waiting for the parent to come out and accept the child from the bus. Once the parent presented themselves, the driver activated the 4-way flashing red stop lights that operate the stop-arm. As the stop-arm was opening into traffic, an SUV was driving past and the stop-arm and the SUV made contact. No one was injured, and all occupants of the bus were safe. The SUV suffered minor damage. The safety of our students and employees is a chief concern. We have reviewed the situation and we will continue to create and adhere to safety protocols to keep our students and resources safe.
