Jump Rope for Heart-2017

The Maple students and staff would like to thank the community for helping to make this year's Jump Rope for Heart event a huge success. This year the students raised over $10,000 to be donated to the American Heart Association. The students participated in many different activities including jumping rope during their PE time on Wear Red Day on February 14, 2017.

Maple students who collected over $75.00 in donations to the American Heart Association were treated for a pizza lunch brought in from Monical’s Restaurant in Watseka on Monday, March 6, 2017. Mrs. Weston’s 2nd grade class brought in the most donations as a class, and those donations were contributed to the American Heart Association. Those students were treated to a McDonald’s Happy Meal lunch on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, and Maple School extends a huge thank-you to Silgan Containers for their efforts in providing funds for the Happy Meals. Khloe Brewer, a student in Miss Deck's first grade class, was the top fundraiser at Maple School during the Jump Rope for Heart event! Khloe received a certificate and medal recognizing that her contributions helped save lives. The medal stated “I DID MY PART TO SAVE A HEART!”
Three members of the Danville Dashers minor professional hockey team based out of Danville, Illinois, with the Federal Hockey League came to Maple Grade School on February 15. They made presentations to the students to eat breakfast every morning, and other healthy foods each and every day. They also told how important it is to do your classroom assignments and do your homework. They also encouraged the students to play sports as it helps build a healthy heart and brain, and good for building muscle strength, too. The Danville Dashers Hockey Team Players were A. J. Tesoriero #18 (from Colorado), Andrew Harrison #13 (from Texas), and Jon Hall #9 (from Indiana).
