Mr. Carl Ankenbrand

Mr. Ankenbrand is originally from rural Mt. Carmel, Illinois, I grew up on a farm which consisted of 250 acres.  I attended Mt. Carmel High School (home of the Golden Aces).  I received an Associate of Science degree from Wabash Valley College and a Bachelor of Science degree in studio art w/K-12 Illinois certification from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  I was hired by CUSD #11 to teach high school art in August of 1995.  The Fall of 2006 I started teaching art at Maple, Honeywell, and John Greer Grade Schools in the Hoopeston Area School District.  I teach roughly 680 students each week.  I am also employed as the Asst. High School Wrestling Coach and District Photographer.

My wife Kelly is a Cornjerker, and is employed at HAHS/HAMS as the technology teacher.  She has two children from a previous marriage - Nathan and Sam.  We have a daughter together, Taylor Madisyn, and a dog Coco.

When I am not teaching art to the youth in Hoopeston I can be found walking my dog every morning and in the weight room or spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, especially along the Bonpas Creek in Wabash County, Illinois, and coaching my daughter in fast-pitch softball.
